“Wakey wakey! Time to get up; we got shit to blow up!” A bright light shone in through the tent and onto Bob’s eyes, he twitched and moaned. He rolled over covering his face.
“Hmmm, just gimme ten more minutes.” Barry was standing outside the tent, he whinges and walks towards Bob.
“Come on, wake up! These explosives aren’t gonna detonate themselves you know.” Barry shakes Bob and bob pushes him away.
“I thought we were going to do this at night.” Barry kneels on top of Bob, making him unable to breathe.
“Well, change of plans, we’re going know.” Barry stands up and Bob gasps for air. Garry walks out of the tent and Bob is all by himself, he sits up for a little bit. Outside of the tent Garry, Sarah and Sharrel are outside waiting. Sarah and Sharrel are both half awake, Garry looks like he’s been taking too much coffee. Bob gets out of the tent and yawns. He stretches carrying his satchel in his right hand. Garry looks at all those around him and asks.
“What’s wrong with you guys?” Sarah tightens her grip on her spear but Sharrel manages to cut in before someone gets stabbed.
“We’re not morning people Garry, people need sleep you know.” Garry looks at Sharrel and replies.
“Who needs sleep when you have access to black gold!?” Sarah tightens her grip even more, but relieves the tension when she yawns. Bob ties the satchel around his waist and yells out sleepily.
“Where’d you get that stuff anyway?” Bob places his hand over his eyes to stop the stars glare in his eyes. He looks at Barry, dressed mostly in tattered and torn black clothing; he was bald and had a certain look of insanity in his eyes, his skin was fairly pale, suggesting that in his earlier life he spent his time indoors all his life, which would explain why he was insane. There was Sarah, she had a red spear made out a sharpened metal pole, and her hair was black, as was her skin. She had a very short temper and did not tolerate many things… Barry was one of things she could not tolerate; she wore some red rags arranged as a shirt and the remains of a pair of brown shorts. Her eyes are usually filled with anger, but she’s a little too tired to be thinking of ways to hurt Garry right now. Garry turns to Bob and replies.
“I found them.” Bob manages to laugh a little and ridicules Garry.
“Oh Garry, surely those things cant be good for your health.” Garry and Bob laugh, Sharrel looks at Sarah confused and Sarah just shrugs, then Garry stops laughing and asks in a worried voice.
“Really?” Bob continues to laugh and pats Garry on the back.
“Hahahahaha, Garry, you’re an idiot. Come on, let’s get this over and done with then.” Garry looks confused and a little worried, everyone walks towards the ladder that leaned against the wall. Garry then picks up two containers, one in each hand and waddles up to the others. Bob turns around and waves at Garry.
“Come on Garry, hurry up!” Garry waddles a little faster.
“Guys, wait up! I can’t run fast carrying these bottles around. They’re heavy! Not to mention fragile!”
Meanwhile in Sam’s office, John was standing in the office accompanied by a soldier and a scientist. The soldier poked John in the back with his rifle and John yells out.
“Would you stop that?! Don’t make me hurt you!” Sam looks astonished and gets up from his desk.
“You’re meaning to tell me he learnt how to speak overnight!?” The scientist dressed in a white robe walks back and forth reading his notebook; he writes in it and reads other parts.
“Umm, yes sir. It seems he has.” Sam just can’t believe what he’s hearing.
“You’re not kidding?” John sighs and holds his arms up and yells out.
“Well I’m standing here and talking to you now, aren’t I?” Sam is so amazed he forgets of the rudeness he has just encountered.
“How did this happen, he was speaking gibberish just last night.” The scientist looks up at John and Sam does the same, John just stands there with his arms crossed and rolls his arms.
“I found one of your dictionary’s on the table in that room you put me in, I was able to learn from there.” Sam goes backs to his desk and sits down; the scientist walks next to Sam and whispers some things in his ear, Sam nods. The soldier pokes John in the back with his rifle again as John was about to doze off. The scientist and Sam were in the middle of a conversation when a loud crunch is heard; they both look at the middle of the office and see an unconscious guard lying on the floor and a very pissed off John. They look at John in shock.
“What!? He started it! Wouldn’t have happened if he kept poking me in the back.” Sam stands up and the scientist tries to hold him down and whispers in his ear again.
“He didn’t get any sleep last night, when he did get to sleep that’s when we woke him up.” Sam makes a large gesture.
“Aaaaaah, Even I’d be a little cranky if that happened to me.” The scientist goes through some more of his notes and moves towards John.
“Sam, if I may, I’d like to do some tests on this… man, he would be of great value to our research, such learning capabilities are a phenomenon. We must learn these secrets. The soldier who is in a mess on the floor moans and slowly manages to get up. Sam walks to the scientist and replies.
“I don’t think so; he is much more valuable as a soldier then a guinea pig for your needs.” The scientist is taken back and tries to reason with Sam. But Sam ignores him and asks John a few questions.
“Well now, seeming that we can now talk to one another, what is your real name?” John stares at Sam blankly, then he tries to remember, but comes up with nothing.
“You remember nothing about who you are?” John just stands there for a while and then replies.
“I… don’t know. I have no idea of who I am. All I know is that I am John Doe.” The scientist holds his hand up and speaks.
“Actually the name John Doe is used for people who cannot be classified; in this case you’re named John Doe because you have no identity that we know of.” Sam slaps his face and John stares at the scientist. Sam speaks again.
“I don’t think he needed to know that Dr.” The scientist just looks confused and then Sam continues.
“Well, John. You’re going to join my army, you’ll be going to weapons training tomorrow afternoon, then by the time you’ve mastered the weaponry we have here, you’ll undergo a field test, if all goes well you’ll be helping these soldiers here keep the peace in this wonderful city. But for now you can get some rest. Dr, I think I can trust you to take him back to his room.” The scientist and John make there way out of the office, the elevator opens and a badly beaten soldier stands next to it, as the pass each other John leans over to the soldier.
“BOO!” John yells out and the Soldier falls down screaming, John laughs to himself as they get into the elevator, the scientist looks at John in shame. John just shrugs.
“What did I do!?” the elevator closes and Sam sits back down in his chair and looks at the soldier who is shaking violently in fear. Sam sighs.
“Go ahead soldier, your dismissed, go get those wounds treated.” The soldier stands back up and stutters.
“S, s, sir y, yes, s, sir!” And he stands there waiting for the elevator to come back up.
It was the middle of the day, a small facility used to generate large amounts of power was about to come under attack. A handful of unsuspecting guards stand around at their places on sentry. In one of the air ducts there were some people inside, people who were going to attack the facility. They crawled slowly across the air duct trying not to make too much noise; Bob and Garry were carrying a container each.
“Ouch, watch it Bob!” Sharrel, who was behind them was keeping aim with one of her pistols and crawling on her back behind everyone else. Sarah, who is in the front of everyone carrying her spear, carefully not making it touch the metal walls. Bob turns his head whilst crawling and whispers.
“Sorry about that Garry, but be quiet, we’re supposed to be infiltrating.” They reach a part of the air duct with an opening for air to get out. Sarah signals them to stop and she carefully gets in a kneeling position. She looks free the metal mesh and tries to look at the surrounding area. She turns her head and looks to the mesh on the other side of the duct. After she does this she signals that there are three guards on the left, five guards on the right and one directly below. Bob nods and passes the message down and Sharrel grabs out her second pistol. Sarah signals Bob to come closer as she shifts over a little positioning her spear, this spear itself has a lot of modifications, parts can be taken on and of to vary its length, she modified it so that it can fit into the vent. She takes aim while Bob carefully and silently removes the metal mesh from the vent, he gets into a kneeling position and holds a few throwing knives in his hand. Garry takes the container he left behind and holds it close to him. Sharrel is trying concentrate on noises to try and pinpoint the enemy’s location. Bob leans into the clear view and takes aim, Sarah pushes her spear down and it goes through the sheet of metal and into the chest of one of the guards. He gargles for a while and as the spear is removed he falls with a thud. The other soldiers hear the sound. They look at the vent. Bob throws some of his knives taking out two on the left and one on the right. The remaining guard on the left screams out in shock. Sharrel clicks and takes aim. A bullet passes through the metal sheet and enters the soldiers’ chest. The two remaining soldiers open fire at the vent, Garry screams out. Sharrel shifts her gun and fires again. The bullet passes through the vent and into another soldier. It ricochets of a pillar and hits the other soldier in the arm. The soldier falls and clasps his arm. Sarah and bob get out first, and then they help Garry place the containers on the ground carefully. When Garry and Sharrel gets up they notice the remaining soldier has disappeared, Sarah points to a box in the distance and a bleeding arm can be seen poking out of the corner, and him screaming out.
“HQ! HQ, we’re being infiltrated! Requesting reinforcements immediately.” Bob looks at Sharrel and speaks.
“I cant get a clear shot from here, you?” Sharrel takes her pistol and aims at a pillar on the roof.
“I’m on it.” She fires a bullet and it hits the pillar. It ricochets and flies down to the soldier. It hits him and he screams out,
“ARRRGGHH!!! My leg! You bitch!” The soldier rises holding a handgun in his hand and aims Sharrel. Bob grabs a few knives from his satchel and yells out,
“Big mistake pal!” He throws the knives at his chest and the guard steps back. The guard has blood pouring out his mouth. He kneels on the ground and takes aim again. Another knife enters his chest and the guard falls down to the ground lifeless. Garry was clutching his leg. Sarah looks at Garry and makes a comment.
“Well, looks like pervert here got shot!” Everyone looks at Garry and he slowly gets up. He grabs the two containers and limps towards the stairs that lead to the floor below.
“Its nothing, lets get this over with” Bob looks around the facility; it appears they are on a suspended railway looking over an empty hallway. To the left he sees a big red door.
“Looks like this used to be the storage area… Garry, Sarah, you go to the generator, Bob, make sure no one else gets to them, while I check the ammunition storage that’s somewhere around here.” Sarah looks confused and turns around, she looks at Sharrel and speaks.
“Ammunition storage?” Sharrel looks at Sarah and replies.
“Intel says that after the soldiers have come back, wherever they have soldiers they have an ammunitions depot for them.” Sarah is still confused. Then she just takes that out of her mind and adjusts her spear again to take it to the original size and walks down the stairs with Garry. Bob makes his way as well while Sharrel examines the building thoroughly. Sharrel enters a room and yells out.
“Hey Bob, come here, I found the weapons storage room.” Bob quickly runs up the stairs and makes it to Sharrel; he peers inside and sees a lot of ammunition everywhere. Sharrel takes some clips and puts it in a small satchel of her own. These are the clips my guns use. Bob wonders inside and looks around, he takes a glimpse of a box with ‘danger, explosives’ written on it. Bob poles Sharrel in the arm and points.
“We should be able to use this. Sharrel nods. Meanwhile in the generator room Sarah and Garry were setting up their crude explosives. A large machine fills up nearly the entire room and Garry and Sarah are on opposite sides. Garry yells out.
“Have you got the container set?” Sarah yells back.
“Yes, would you stop asking?” Garry walks towards the door with a detonator in his hands and yells out.
“Fire in the hole!” Sarah rushes out screaming out.
“Wait you barstard, I haven’t even gotten out yet!” Garry laughs to himself and takes cover behind a box and when Sarah goes behind a box on the other side Garry presses the button. A large explosion is heard and a fireball rushes out knocking down the red doors. When the fire settles a little Garry and Sarah get up and look into the room.
“So much for your explosives Garry.” Garry looks shocked, the machine was still standing, it was a little burnt from the explosion but that’s all. Suddenly they hear Bobs voice.
“Maybe this’ll do the job.” Garry and Sarah turn around and see Bob and Sharrel slowly walking down the stairs with all types of ammunition rapped around them and carrying a large box in each hand. Garry laughs excitedly.
“A present, for me? You shouldn’t have!” They meet up with each other and Garry takes the boxes into the room. Bob turns to Sharrel and speaks.
“Okay, excuse me a sec; I have to get back my knives.” Sharrel nods and an excited Garry is heard in the room with the machinery.
“Wow, this is top stuff right here, it even comes with its own detonator!” Sarah kneels down and sighs. Suddenly Bob yells out.
“Oh crap! They’re sending reinforcements, we should leave… now!” Sharrel pulls Sarah up and goes through an escape plan.
“Okay, the emergency exit is this way; the soldiers can only come through that door over there.” They walk towards the exit and stand guard.
“Garry, hurry up man! They could come at any second!” Garry responds a few seconds later.
“I’m almost finished, gimme a second.” Footsteps are heard opposite Garry on the other side of the hall. Bob shouts out,
“We don’t have a second, now!” The door bursts open and about thirty soldier’s run in and open fire immediately at Bob, Sharrel and Sarah. Bob and the others make a getaway in the emergency exit. Sharrel yells through the radio that she has on her. “Garry, there’s too many of them, we can’t come back to save you!” Bob curses as they run; a few soldiers go to run after them but the commander of the group yells out.
“No, they’re just a bunch of rejects, shit they made a mess here didn’t they, okay, everyone move out, there might be more around here. We’ll go after the other lot later, they won’t get that far.” The soldiers begin to move but then they all hear a voice.
“Nobody move, or this entire facility blows up.” Garry steps out of the room into the open. Some of the soldiers are taken back and they take aim, the commander yells orders them to lower their weapons. Bob yells in the radio,
“Garry, you idiot! Don’t go and kill yourself!” Garry just smiles and replies into the radio as the soldiers stand there petrified.
“It’s all to buy you a little more time.” Garry yells out manically and presses the button, the soldiers flinch, but nothing happens.
“Fire!” the soldiers take up their weapons and fire at Garry with all they got. After the smoke has cleared from all the smoking guns they see Garry in a bloody mess, the soldiers slowly advance towards him, and Garry makes a soft groan. The commander walks to Garry and speaks.
“Nothing else to say huh? Didn’t think so.” Garry moans again and the commander leans closer.
“What was that?” The soldiers surround Garry and reload their weapons. Garry spits out some blood and says in a soft voice.
“I forgot something.” The commander leans in closer and says.
“Oh, and what is that then?” Garry laughs a little and then coughs up more blood, he lies on the floor and is almost drowning in his own blood and begins to talk after he stops coughing up blood.
“I forgot… that… the explosives… don’t detonate… till… after… I let go… of the button.” The commander jumps back in total shock and the soldiers are stunned.
“NO!!!” the commander yells as Garry lets go of the button.
Bob and the rest managed to get out of the building mourning Garry as they heard the gunshots fire. They get up and wipe their eyes as they make it slowly back to base… but as they get up they are knocked back down by a large explosion, the entire building is covered in flames, they get up and make a run for it.
When they made it back to the base over the wall they had the sad news of Garry’s death to tell… Over the next few days the entire village spent the next few days mourning the loss of one of their own. They have succeeded in their mission but lost one of their own. Bob beat himself up that he should’ve gone back to save him but Sharrel kept telling him that there was nothing they could do, they were outnumbered and would be dead themselves if they had gone back to help him.
During the next few days when they spent the time to mourn, someone else was spending the time to train and learn of his new life. John Doe was in the weapons training facility on the other side of the city where the explosion occurred, totally unaware of what happened. In fact, he doesn’t even know of the existence of the ‘rejects’ that were mourning the death of one man that sacrificed himself. He wasn’t aware of many things that happened in the city; as far as he knows the good guy is Sam Trealm… he is dead wrong.
An instructor was standing next to John giving out instructions and John was listening carefully.
“Okay, this is a standard AU type 136 assault rifle. To load it you simply take this clip and insert it in here, and then you pull back this latch here and push it up. To reload you flick the hatch down and the clip should just fall out and you insert the new clip in. You only do this when you’re out of ammo in the clip okay? Now what I want you to do is load it and take a few shots at the target over there and reload. I don’t expect you to get it the first time, oh by the way, let me just switch it to safe mode.” But John just went ahead and loaded it before the instructor could turn to touch the gun, took aim and opened fire on the target. The gun was on full auto and every bullet hit the target; 5 to the head, 5 to each limb and another five directly in the heart. The instructor just looks amazed and can’t speak. The John flicks the switch and places a new clip in before the old one touches the ground. John places the rifle down on the counter and stares at the soldier and asks,
“What else you got me to try out?”
Later that day the instructor soldier is speaking to Sam in his office.
“It’s amazing! He literally learned how to use each weapon almost instantly, with one example he was straight onto it.” Sam is also shocked; he gets up and walks to the instructor and speaks.
“That… that is great news! I can’t wait to see this man in action, put him to the test immediately! This shall be interesting.
Inside the very same building they had a large room specifically for tests such as this, the room was set up like a Warfield, on one side they had about 30 soldiers fully armed and on the other side is John being informed of the situation by the instructor he had earlier that day.
“Okay now, the boss wants to test you. There are about 30 guys over there armed, you and they have real guns, but the ammunition is a small device that administers a shock to the victim, knocking him out cold, leaving them alive. You’re to try and hit as many men as you can without being hit yourself okay?” John nods and walks onto the fake grass, the entire field was fake seeming it was indoors. John hides behind a large plastic rock and holds his rifle close. He closes his eyes and focuses. An announcement is heard.
“Let the test begin!” A few men come out and slowly make there way to the rock where John is. Sam watches with anticipation, the soldiers gather around the rock and no movement occurs in John. Sam gets nervous.
“What’s going on with him? He isn’t moving at all!” The instructor looks confused; the soldiers close in on the rock. Suddenly John opens his eyes. The soldiers move into firing range and take aim. John jumps up onto the rock. He fires three bullets from his rifle. Three soldiers fall. The soldiers he stood behind the rock are stunned. The look up and take aim. John turns around and jumps to the side. The soldiers miss. John opens fire and 5 more soldiers fall. As john lands a soldier standing next to him turns. The soldier takes aim. John jumps out of the way and attacks the soldier in close combat. The rifles land onto the soldiers head. John flips the soldier to the ground. The final soldier from the other side of the rock comes out and is shot from John’s rifle. A blow hits the soldier on the ground, knocking him out. Sam looks into the arena shocked.
“Wow, that’s just… amazing. Send more out!” The instructor nods and makes an announcement through the intercom.
“Okay John that was great, we’re going to send in more now okay?” John stands there and nods, as the other soldiers come out John reloads. About 20 of them stand in a straight line and then kneel down. They take aim at John and fire. John runs to the side and fires as well. The soldiers miss every shot. John runs so fast they can’t get a proper aim. John sidesteps to the wall and jumps high. He jumps of the side of the wall. The soldiers drop like flies. When John lands all the soldiers are down and Sam is standing there in shock still.
“Wow, that’s just amazing! They shouldn’t have held back though.” John reloads his rifle again and stands at the ready, an announcement is heard.
“Thanks John, that’ll be all today.” John relaxes a little and takes a deep breath and walks towards the others who were behind a glass case. The glass case opens and John walks through, Sam is clapping his hands.
“Wonderful! Wonderful! I think you’ll be able to go straight to action soon enough”
John wipes his head and sits down and relaxes. The instructor looks at Sam and speaks.
“Should I take him to the barracks and get him his uniform?” Sam looks at John and replies.
“Yes, I think it would be good that he meets the rest of the gang.”
The next day John is sitting in the Barracks cafeterias having his lunch, two soldiers are talking about him on the other side of the hall.
“Hey, is that him?” the first soldier points across the room, the soldier looks at John and replies.
“Yeah I think it is.” The first one talks again.
“You know what? I heard he took out thirty of our men single handed in practice yesterday.” The second soldier looks at him in disbelief.
“No way! Really? What kind of person could have done that?” The second soldier shrugs.
“I have no idea, apparently he fell from the sky and has no real identity.” At this point a third soldier gets involved in the conversation.
“I heard that he used to be with the white wolves.” The first two soldiers look at the third and he continues.
“Yea, I mean sure they’re our enemies back in the war but.” He looks around and lowers his voice.
“I hate to say this but, White Wolves don’t rely on the best technology, they have the most experienced soldiers you can imagine… their entire army only trains their men to elite status before they go to the field.” One of the soldiers looks at John then back at the third soldier.
“Wait… if he is in the White Wolves… wont he like… kill us all?” The third soldier laughs then replies.
“Ah, not to worry, he has no memory of his past anyway… besides. White Wolves have no reason to send a soldier here to kill us all, we dropped out of the war, according to the pledge, and they can’t touch whoever is not in the war.” The first soldier gives a sigh of relief. The soldier continues.
“He aint gonna kill us all, don’t worry about it. Although I have heard he has a little bit of a temper.” The other two soldiers look confused. The third soldier continues.
“You know Morbid?” The other two soldiers nod and one of them talks.
“Yea, he’s out of service, apparently he’s got some broken bones from falling down the stairs.” The third soldier laughs.
“Is that what he told you? Nah mate, John did that to him; apparently he poked him in the back with his rifle a little too many times.” The other two soldiers look shocked and look at John again.
“Anyway, we could get into trouble if we keep talking about this… We never had this conversation okay?” The other two soldiers nod, then they get back to their lunch.
